BIRDS OF THE FOUR SEASONS is a dance theatre production from award-winning hip hop movement architects BirdGang Ltd. Inspired by the renowned Japanese painter Kanō Motonobu’s work of a similar name, it explores the profound relationship between BirdGang founder Simeon Qsyea and his father, Roosevelt Richard. Drawing on Motonobu’s opulent panel paintings from the Momoyama Period, their vibrant colours and rich symbolism, Qsyea takes audiences on a powerful, abstract journey across space and time, with some of the UK’s most skilled hip hop dancers. As performers weave between moments of grace and intensity, they explore themes of lineage, legacy, and the eternal cycle of life. BIRDS OF THE FOUR SEASONS is a celebration of artistic heritage and familial bonds, a world where movement becomes poetry and emotion takes flight.
