The Andrew Tate effect: How to tackle the growing gulf between boys and girls.
Tension between boys and girls has long existed and at times dominated dynamics in UK schools. But animosity between the genders appears to be reaching troubling new heights in and beyond the school gates as misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate gains growing influence. Counter-extremism workers have told of a fast rise in the number of cases referred to them by schools anxious about Tate’s influence. Of course, problems of misogyny predate and transcend Tate. There is a bigger problem around misogynistic social media personalities growing increasingly influential – a government minister has warned such influencers pose a threat to children in every school in the UK. Given research shows the ideological gap between young men and women is growing and the former are becoming more socially conservative – we must ask ourselves how we tackle this issue head on.
