Gina Martin is a gender equality campaigner, speaker, and training facilitator.

Gina regularly works as a consultant for companies and gives talks in schools across the UK, is a Changemaker for UN Women UK, and an Ambassador for Beyond Equality, co-hosting workshops for their teacher network on masculinities, sexual violence and harassment. She is also a monthly columnist for Glamour UK and writes for platforms such as GQ, The Guardian, Stylist Magazine, Grazia, ELLE, The Telegraph, World Economic Forum and Vogue.

In 2019, she founded and ran the national campaign to make up-skirting illegal, changing English and Welsh law and creating the Voyeurism Act. Three other countries have followed suit. In 2019 she worked for Nyome Nicholas-Williams, changing Instagram’s global breast squeezing policy which was disproportionately censoring plus-sized Black women. Gina regularly contributes to conversations on news channels such as Sky News, BBC 5 Live, BBC Radio 4 and BBC News.

Launching her second book ‘No Offence, But…’ (Penguin, 2023) Gina featured 10 incredible writer’s focusing on how to have difficult conversations for a meaningful change. Her debut book ‘Be the Change’ (Little Brown, 2019) is a practical toolkit for activists starting out.

Gina has been featured on the cover of Head Above The Clouds in December 2023, Glamour’s IWD digital cover in 2022, named as Evening Standard’s ‘1000 most influential people in London,’ one of TIME Magazine’s #100Next Influential people, as well as Stylist ‘Remarkable Women of the Year.’ She was also listed as Cosmopolitan’s ‘Disrupter of The Year’ at the Influencer Awards and profiled for the ‘Female Lead Volume II: 67 remarkable women’.

Campaigning has led Gina to successful purpose-led collaborations with The Body Shop, Female Invest, CARE, Roche, Make My Money Matter and many more.


Maya Oppenheim is The Independent’s Women’s Correspondent, distinguished as the only Women’s Correspondent at a UK news outlet. Since assuming this role in 2018, Maya has extensively covered issues ranging from human rights and sexual violence to domestic abuse, abortion, and women’s health. Her first book, The Pocket Guide to the Patriarchy, delves into these topics and more across 22 comprehensive chapters. Maya’s journalism has significantly influenced the political and news agenda, bringing attention to previously marginalised issues.

In addition to her investigative stories and features, Maya curates Independent Women, a free weekly newsletter focused on women’s issues. Her previous experience includes roles on The Independent’s News Desk and People Desk and freelancing for Vice, New Statesman, i-D magazine, Buzzfeed, Dazed & Confused, and other notable publications. Born and raised in Dalston, Hackney, Maya resides in East London.
