Happy Valentine’s Day!

However you choose to spend the 14th February this year, we hope it’s brilliant and fulfilling.

Valentine’s Day, sometimes called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, has long been a yearly tradition of showering loved ones with gifts. But did you know our home of East Anglia has a surprisingly long history entwined with the day of love? In fact, the oldest-known valentine written in English was sent from Norfolk in 1477.

Norfolk and Norwich also has a centuries-long Valentine’s tradition involving a character aptly named ‘Jack Valentine’. Under the cover of darkness, Jack Valentine will silently leave small gifts on your doorstep before knocking and hiding.
