Our friends at The Zen Project are offering a series of Zen Tips throughout April to relieve stress and help you find your inner zen. Try this simple box breathing practice that will help to quieten your thoughts a little and bring some balance to the mind:
- Find a comfortable seated position, gently rest your hands on your lap and close your eyes
- Begin to bring your awareness to your breathing, noticing the in-breath and the out-breath
- Now breathe in through your nose as you slowly count to 4 in your head
- Then hold your breath for a count of 4
- Breathe out for another count of 4
- And hold the breath out for a count of 4
- Continue for a few rounds
